Richard will briefly explain how to: Plan SOA and EAI projects in a quick and agile way. Provide for untested scale. Organize the collaboration between multiple teams, vendors, and partners.
  • Do web services scale? Collecting data from four million meters every day.
  • AMI standards: Exchanging meter data between utilities - meter reading services.
  • Agile Architecture: The message is the feature.
Coffee Break 10:00-10:15

The 3 C’s of SOA and Integration Quality: Complete, Collaborative, Continuous 11:15-12:00 Presenter:John Michelsen, Founder & Chief Architect, iTKO
Enterprises are rapidly reaching the Tipping Point of increased change and complexity in IT. While the industry has developed agile tools for integrating and leveraging new and existing technologies – our ability to ensure quality must keep up with the pace of change that business drives. Quality must be baked into the entire lifecycle of the application, from design time, to change time and runtime, and not relegated to a pre-production “acceptance” phase. This presentation will provide practical examples for how developers and QA teams can work together to test and validate SOA workflows that span multiple application tiers, from the web UI, to services protocols, messaging/ESB frameworks, and implementation layers.
  • Ensuring complete, collaborative and continuous quality to support SOA design, development and governance
  • Identifying points of Risk in SOA and integration projects
  • Methods for implementing testing processes at every phase of the application lifecycle
  • Gaining participation and buy-in for quality across the extended organization
Lunch Break 12:00-13:00
  • Enjoy a gourmet lunch
The Liquid Enterprise – Embracing Heterogeneity in an SOA Environment 13:00-13:45 Presenter: David Anderson, Solution Architect, BEA Systems, Inc.

The Smart Grid Meets the Smart Market - SOA Case Study: Endigo Energy LLC 14:45-15:30 Presenter: Patrick Bhirdo, Endigo Energy LLC
The Smart Grid offers great promise to utilities and customers to manage load in a real-time environment. Load interruption and real-time metering provide understanding and automated solutions to optimize the grid, streamline operations and provide valuable added services to customers and utilities. However, customers are looking to manage not just real-time usage but their forward budgets for energy. The Smart Market concept envisions providing energy customers with all the usage history, usage projections, pricing, contract, credit and accounting information to truly enable them to begin taking control of their energy budgets.
  • Value proposition of the Smart Grid & the retail energy sales process for customers
  • Where SOA, the Smart Grid, and Smart Market Integrate
  • Roadblocks to SOA implementation for Smart Market
Optimize Your Business Outcome with SOA 15:30-16:15 Presenter: Kelly Emo, Director, HP SOA Software Product Marketing
Service Oriented Architecture can promise breakthroughs in IT innovation and business responsiveness but it is not without risk. At HP, we've been working with SOA innovators and early adopters for over five years to help them harness the potential energy of SOA without getting burned through key processes and best practices around governance, quality and management. This presentation will describe and highlight the key best practices and enabling technologies spanning the lifecycle of a service from design, to test, to deployment that will enable SOA to work for you, not against you, to optimize your business results.
  • Successful SOA transformation takes governance, quality and management
  • And successful SOA becomes infused into the operational fabric of IT
  • And customers today are demonstrating success with SOA and governance, quality and management
