About the Speakers:

Jason Bloomberg - Managing Partner, ZapThink, LLC

Jason Bloomberg is Managing Partner and Principal at Service-Oriented Architecture industry analysis and advisory firm ZapThink LLC. Mr. Bloomberg has a diverse background in eBusiness technology management and industry analysis, including serving as a Senior Analyst in IDC's eBusiness Advisory group, as well as holding eBusiness management positions at USWeb/CKS (later marchFIRST) and WaveBend Solutions (now Hitachi Consulting).

He co-authored the book Web Page Scripting Techniques (Hayden Books, 1996), and in association with ZapThink founder Ronald Schmelzer, contributed the chapters on Web Services to XML and Web Services Unleashed (SAMS Publishing, 2002). Messrs. Bloomberg and Schmelzer's book, Service Orient or Be Doomed! How Service Orientation Will Change Your Business (John Wiley & Sons, 2006), was released in February, 2006.

Shawn Davies - Enterprise Architecture and Strategy, Stockland Corporation Limited - Formerly Enterprise Application Architect at Suncorp / Promina Group Limited

Shawn is currently part of a special unit to support the integration and transformation of the two organisations. This phase requires design and costing of potentially up to 300 initiatives as part of the merging of brands and business units supporting their emerging strategies. Focus is on ensuring the proposed solutions are aligned with both the business objectives and the group IT strategy. The application portfolio of over 1200 business applications also requires some level of rationalisation

John Jones - Director, Qubit Consulting Pty Ptd

John has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Over the last couple of years, John has lead a large enterprise-wide project for leading telecommunication companies, provided SOA consulting to financial services organisations, open-source proposals for company transformations along with a variety of other engagements and public presentations. Prior to Qubit, he worked for Sun Microsystems for a period of six years in a number of Senior Technical Leadership roles. John's most recent position was that of the Australia and New Zealand software CTO in the Client Solutions Organisation. In this capacity John was involved in both sales and delivery focusing specifically on SOA related activities. John's previous role at Sun was that of an Enterprise Architect; providing architectural leadership across a number of projects in any given account. John initially joined Sun's Java Centre and acted as a Senior Java Architect for 4 years.
