  • LIMS Implementation Specialist (HIT) - Atlanta, GA

We have a current opening for a LIMS Implementation Specialist to support a large government contract in Atlanta, GA.

     
    Dovel is seeking a Senior SOA Architect / LIMS Implementation Specialist for a growing project at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The LIMS Implementation Specialist provides expertise in developing LIMS systems involving new technologies, methods, concepts or approaches related to lab systems. Provides technical and administrative direction for personnel performing system development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules. They work closely with the project manager, development team, and other analysts to ensure the correct implementation of the written functional specifications for LIMS. They demonstrate mastery of the subject matter and diversified knowledge of principles and practice in LIMS.
     
    Job Duties:

    • Performs systems requirements analysis and documentation for new laboratory implementations and change requests required to support functionality needs of Production LIMS laboratories
    • Proposes and designs user interfaces and technical solutions for new features or modifications to core functionality in order to meet the lab’s requirements
    • Provides expert technical knowledge of LIMS and the ability to work within its relational databases
    • Develops lab-specific functionality to support the lab’s specimen lifecycle
    • Conduct initial unit testing as required
    • Validates the system prior to delivery to the laboratory in support of their final validation activities
    • Updates lab-specific properties and actions scripts that coincide with LIMS software dictionary updates
    • Develop requirements for software programs that implement automated methods and systems to track workflow and performance efficiencies

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 10 years related experience with emphasis in systems requirements development in a LIMS environment
    • Experience with developing comprehensive requirements specifications for complex systems/applications with a track record of successfully leading analysis efforts for large and complex projects to solve significant technology-related problems in a complex environment.
    • Familiar with lab systems, integration techniques, and web services with understanding and exposure specifically to LIMS concepts, phases and deliverables
    • Familiar with common laboratory terminology, processes and procedures
    • Firm grasp of system/application architecture and concepts
    • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities
    • Ability to understand customer needs and manage expectations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
    • Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)
    • Needs working knowledge of Jscript and experience with STARLIMS Scripting Language (SSL)
    • Strong technical acumen and familiarity with current technologies and system architectures
    • Lean/Six Sigma background or prior experience in process engineering

    The Successful Release Manager Will:
     
    • Possess 7 + years of applicable experience
    • Manage and lead project teams throughout the entire system development life cycle to produce high quality releases
    • Ensure that each release is successfully delivered per scope, schedule, quality and budget expectations
    • Determine and assign work via project plans and schedules, monitor project performance, address risks and issues, manage project team resources, and regularly communicate with all project stakeholders
    • Work collaboratively with other release managers and testing to deliver quarterly releases to the production environment
    • Have experience leading project teams through an incremental SDLC at CMMI ML3 or higher
    • Have SEC experience (preferred, not required)

    We're seeking someone with proven IT project management experience to support the management of a software development project team and provide technical management and strategy consulting support.


    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
     
    • Managing a team of 40
    • Interfacing with client management, other managers, other contractors
    • Managing project scope, time, cost, risk, resources, communication, quality, and releases
    • Managing client expectations, project goals, and project scope
    • Maintaining an active presence and performing the key coordination tasks throughout the project lifecycle
    • Communicating the project expectations, project goals, and project scope to the team
    • Developing and maintaining the project plan including estimates, schedules, resources, and release criteria
    • Working with the client to define and institute program performance measurements
    • Participating in regularly scheduled status and CCB meetings
    • Maintaining visibility of and communicating project dates, functional requirements, and deliverables
    • Mentoring staff
     
    REQUIRED SKILLS:
     
    • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field
    • Minimum of 10 years of IT experience
    • Minimum of 3 years experience managing full life cycle software development efforts
    • Experience leading medium sized teams
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Working knowledge of current technology
    • Experience with and a working knowledge of EPLC
    • Familiarity and experience with PMO charters and operations
    • Proven ability to manage concurrent software development efforts using established practices
    • Ability to manage client expectations by prioritizing multiple tasks concurrently
    • Ability to lead teams in a dynamic team-oriented environment
    • Ability to effectively manage time and cost for software development efforts through activity duration
    • Ability to effectively manage project risk for software development efforts
       
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    • Experience working in government environment
    • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
    • Familiarity with complex technical software development environments
    • Knowledge of CMMI
