ZapThink founder Ron Schmelzer’s privately-held firm provides SOA, enterprise architecture, and cloud training and consulting, and has done big business with the fed market, with customers including BEA Systems, ManTech, NASA,Veterans Affairs, and the Office of Naval Intelligence (hold on while we pick those names off the floor). While federal enterprise architecture training has been a mainstay, Ron says cloud training is the new big thing, and the federal government is actually way out in front of much of the corporate world in its embrace of cloud. (This means more cloud training, and more work for Ron.) Ron is a veteran of tech startups from the first Internet wave; he cofounded VirtuMall, one of the first web-based shopping sites, in 1994 (back when web sites were hand-chiseled in HTML on stone tablets).
