ZapThink LLC senior analyst Jason Bloomberg says seedling tools and sites have begun cropping up, from open source to commercial efforts. There are a lot of ideas out there, but the business models and real reason for deploying the technology remains largely undefined.
“It’s a fun time for this stuff because the possibilities and ways to explore the power of technology are infinite,” Bloomberg said. “Many developers are exploring the technology and having fun, but lots of million-dollar questions from a business perspective haven’t been answered.”
Bloomberg called sites like Freewebs Farms a great breeding ground for innovation, but questioned whether the technologies being created all about having fun, and building cool Web sites with better blogs and wikis.
“What would it take for businesses to reach the next level and really give users a better Web experience,” Bloomberg said.
