Managing your XML Documents with Schemas

The XML Schema Definition Language solves a number of problems posed with Document Type Definitions. Because DTDs prompted much confusion and complaining among XML developers, the W3C set about creating a new standard for defining a document’s structure.

What the W3C created is something even more complex and flexible than DTDs: the XML Schema Definition Language. In this article, by Ronald Schmelzer of ZapThink, LLC and Travis Vandersypen, we’ll look at many aspects of schemas and how you can build and use them.
